Veterinarian
Josh Zacharias, DVM, MS, DACVS-LA, DACVSMR-EQ
Dr. Zacharias was raised on a southwest Iowa farm. He attended Iowa State University for undergraduate and veterinary studies. He completed a sports medicine and surgery internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Dr. Zacharias then moved to Purdue University in Indiana for a large animal surgery residency that led to attaining credentials to become board certified with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He went back to Iowa State to serve as an emergency surgeon prior to taking a private practice equine surgery position in Katy, Texas. After a couple years in Texas, he moved to Colorado in 2010 to be a surgeon at Countryside Large Animal in Greeley. He completed the requirements to become board certified with the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2013. Dr. Zacharias followed his Vizion of starting his own veterinary practice by forming Vizion Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery where he pursues his love of the equine athlete and the reward of helping their owners follow their Vizion. Dr. Zacharias also attended Kentucky Horseshoeing School and apprenticed with a journeyman farrier for 3 years while attending vet school. He has practiced as a farrier and podiatrist in varying levels throughout his career, implementing the knowledge of biomechanics of the foot to treat many lameness issues encountered.
